How to acquire BOCK token: A step-by-step guide

BOCK is an ERC-20 token on the Ethereum Layer 2 network Arbitrum. Since the token is not listed on any centralized crypto exchange, it must be acquired on-chain via a DEX (Matcha, Uniswap, etc) on Arbitrum.

1 Set Up a Web3 Wallet

(skip if you already have one)

Before you can acquire BOCK, you need a Web3-compatible wallet like MetaMask or Coinbase Wallet. You can use this either as a software wallet or in combination with a hardware wallet like Ledger.

2 Add Arbitrum as a Network

(skip if you already have or it’s automatically integrated in your wallet)

  • RPC URL: https://arb1.arbitrum.io/rpc
  • Chain ID: 42161
  • Currency Symbol: ETH
  • Block Explorer URL: Arbiscan

3 Deposit ETH into Your Wallet

(skip if you already have)

To acquire BOCK, you need funds like ETH, USDC, USDT or similar on the Arbitrum network.

Two options: Via your crypto exchange or via a bridge from another layer, like the Ethereum layer 1, if you already have funds there.

Option 1
  1. Log in to your crypto exchange and select "Withdraw ETH."
  2. Important: Make sure to select Arbitrum as the network!
  3. Send ETH to your wallet address.

Option 2
  1. Go to a bridge like Arbitrum Portal and connect your wallet (there are many other bridges too if you have funds on different layers like Base).
  2. Select the Layer you have your funds on (e.g. Ethereum or Base) and select Arbitrum One as the layer you want your funds to be bridged to.
  3. Select the asset you want to bridge like ETH, USDC or USDT (You will need some ETH on Arbitrum to pay for Gas fees). Then bridge the funds by approving the transaction with your wallet.
  4. Usually you have to wait some time (~15 min) before the funds arrive on Arbitrum.

BOCK is paired with ETH. You can either swap directly in those pairs on Uniswap or use Matcha a Swapping Router to automatically find the best route from your asset to BOCK.

4 Swap ETH, USDC, USDT for BOCK

  1. Use this link: Matcha (any asset) or Uniswap (only ETH) to swap into BOCK (if it does not appear automatically, add the contract address manually).
  2. Choose how much of your asset you want to swap and wait for an expected token outcome plus a price impact to show up. If the available liquidity is low, price impact can be significant. Approve transactions only if you are aware of the price impact and outcome of the swap. If necessary, adjust the slippage accordingly.

Relinquish BOCK

The relinquishing process is the reverse of acquiring: swap BOCK → ETH/USDC/USDT → Deposit directly to your exchange or bride to another layer.

  1. Swap BOCK for ETH/USDC/USDT.
  2. (Optional) Convert ETH/USDC/USDT to the currency of your choice.
  3. Withdraw ETH/USDC/USDT to a crypto exchange or bridge back to any layer.
